Western Bays Street Rodders is a Porirua based Hot Rod club comprising over 30 members, and is both an incorporated society, and a non-profit organisation.

We were formed over twenty years ago, as a breakaway club, from Gold Coast Rod and Custom Club in Paraparaumu, and were originally called Porirua City Rodders.

The club was formed to meet the needs of its members who were living in the Porirua area and were unable to travel to Paraparaumu for meetings.

We used our original name for many years, but as time moved on, and more of our members were living outside the Porirua area, it was decided to change its name to incorporate these people, while still being linked to our favorite city - Porirua. We retain many of our original members, trophies, and items of interest from the clubs beginnings.

The club presently meets fortnightly at our clubrooms, Onepoto Road  Titahi Bay, and boasts over thirty members, however we are currently nearing capacity with our current clubrooms, and are actively seeking a more suitable site to hold our club meetings and other activities.

The club members of Western bays Street rodders boast a wide range of different cars, which include hot rods, street machines, drag cars, stock and modified American, Australian and English cars of interest.

Ages of our membership range from fourteen to "never too old to have fun", and includes female members, as well as families, and several social members, with an emphasis on having fun and member participation.

Members enjoy many events such as drag racing, car shows , cruises, mystery runs, street and grass-kanas, indoor go-karting , bowling tournaments, raft races, and other social events all year round.

We have been involved in organising and running Street Drags along with Capital Rodders for over ten years, first in Porirua at Wineera Drive, and then with the unfortunate loss of our venue, in Upper Hutt. With this venue also now unavailable, our club has become the organizer and promoter of the 'Petrol Heads at North City' Hot Rod Show, at the North City shopping centre in the level two car park. This event not only positively promotes our club, it also draws many people into Porirua City from many of Wellington's surrounding cities and suburbs, and has by all accounts been an outstanding success. The show has now become a well known annual event, and grows in size each year. It is from these activities we have been fortunate enough to build our own clubrooms, which we own freehold.

We believe we are an extremely active and positive club, and also encourage young members to join and participate in club activities, helping to channel their interest in motor cars in a positive and law abiding direction.
